Extra-Curricular Activities/Sports at Sir John A. Macdonald School

During the course of the school year, many extra-curricular activities are offered to students.  These may vary a little from year to year since they are all organized and coordinated by school staff who volunteer to do this.  Also, students are expected to demonstrate initiative and responsibility in listening to announcements for times and dates for these activities, as these are important learning skills and work habits.  Students are always given multiple opportunities to sign up or try out, and staff publicize this in the school in various ways, in particular via announcements which happen daily. 

Sports activities often lead toward a school group or district tournament.  Over the course of the year, they generally follow this order:

• September – cross-country running
• September/October – soccer
• November/December – volleyball
• January/February – basketball
• April/May – relays
• May/June – track & field and baseball

In addition, various other non-sport activities may occur, such as chess club, library club, Minecraft club, recess helpers, music club, various leadership activities, etc..  They may happen throughout the year or only at certain times based on staff availability to volunteer, and they are announced as they happen as well as being brought to students’ attention by school staff in the classrooms.
