Dates To Remember
Pedal for Hope
This year the Pedal for Hope tour will once again be stopping at SJAM on May 8th, 2015 at 9:30 am. The bicycle tour, put on by area police officers, is back for its fourth year to raise awareness and support for pediatric cancer by visiting 31 elementary schools. Raising awareness and helping fundraise is an important part of the tour.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies. This year's goal is to raise a total of $90,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society and they are proud to say they are aiming that high. The officers taking part are volunteering their time for the tour.
Students at SJAM are asked to wear GOLD on that day, the colour for childhood cancer and one of our school colours. We will be offering gold t-shirts with the Colts logo and the phrase “We believe” (the PFHT chant) for sale. Shirts will be offered at $10 each with a portion ($4.00) of that money going to Pedal for Hope as a donation from SJAM families. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, please return the bottom portion of this letter with payment, cash or cheque, payable to Sir John A. Macdonald School by April 17th, 2015.
