Pedal for Hope
On May 9th the Pedal for Hope tour will be stopping at SJAM.
The bicycle tour, put on by area police officers, is back for its third year to raise awareness and support for pediatric cancer by visiting 31 elementary schools. Raising awareness and helping fundraise, is an important part of the tour.
Kicking off in Prince Edward County, the ride begins at 8:15 a.m. April 28, following a route weaving through Trenton, Belleville, Madoc, Marmora and Tweed. Students attending the PFHQ assemblies can expect some head shaving and some information games, as well as local cancer survivor stories. Winding down at Belleville's Market Square on May 9, a wrap-up celebration will be held at 4 p.m., followed by the kids and their riders cycling into the venue around 6 p.m.
This year's goal is to raise a total of $85,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society and they are proud to say they are aiming that high. The officers taking part are volunteering their time for the tour.
Families that wish to fundraise may do so in the envelope provided. All envelopes need to be returned by May 8th, 2014.
Students are also asked to wear GOLD on that day, the colour for childhood cancer and one of our school colours. Furthermore, we will be offering gold t-Shirts with the Colt’s logo and the phrase “We believe” (the PFHT chant) for sale. Shirts will be offered at $10 each with half of that money going to Pedal for Hope as a donation. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, please return the bottom portion of this letter with payment, cash or cheque payable to Sir John A. Macdonald before April 30th, 2014.
We believe in a cure.
Image colours are not exact. Yellow will be gold as the sample shirts in the foyer.
We Believe"All students can achieve high standards given significant time and support. All teachers can teach to high standards given the right conditions.” Fullan, Hill, Crevola
Safety is our #1 concern. Please do not park in front of the school in the bus loading zone.
